As a personal note, while we've started to move away from armour. I would prefer if spell-casting was a little longer. I don't like that for one essence spells people can just get away with saying "Whirlwind" or "Heal" or w/e. I would maybe go with, spell-casting takes at least 3...

I feel that nerfing med would probably be the right way to go, it brings us into a clever, more attrition based system, not just for healing but for all spell-casting. The advantage of armour is that it doesn't cost you skill. At lower levels of the system it allows you to mitigate damage that would've been impossible before.
