In the meantime (10 years of history condensed)

Postby Ben » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:14 pm

More to come...

The year is 175

Sinya Palurin/Gweria/Mirilya

From the destruction of The Quarin in the summer of 164 until the end of the year 165, the human armies of Sinya Palurin under William Harwood fought what would become known as “The Scouring of Gweria”. Hundreds of thousands of undead, disorganised and leaderless, were destroyed or forced to flee, being driven into the sea or deep underground.

Now Sinya Palurin spreads across the northern part of the continent of Pargon: Gweria no longer exists as an independent state, its lands now divided between the Varyans and Larkant.

Mirilya
Once known as the Mirilya Woodlands, these ancient forests have spread across the south-east of SInya Palurin, along the Erda Ridge from the sea to the Heartlands to become a land in its own right. After their ancestral home, Arnad Guarhoth, was devastated by the Cloudlit Realm (twice) the beastkin began to look for a new home. Arnad Guarhoth was carved up between Fey and Shirikan but the beastkin were promised the woodlands of the world as their own in return for their assistance against The Quarin so they chose Mirilya. The Beastkin travelled from all corners of Pargon to settle their new home, driving the Halfings from Nuuta and taking it as their own.

Recently a new warleader has arisen, a young wolf named Greystreak who sees all the woodlands of the world as belonging to the beastkin and he is looking north towards the forests of the Everni…

The Telerfret
Under Hebtab’s leadership, Ingolé has arisen once more from the ruins of the home of the Telefret. The city is built around the Arcane University at its centre which in turn surrounds and protects the magical well inadvertently created by the Elves when they destroyed it years before. Telefret lands now stretch east, taking in the ruins of Mahtar all the way to the Ondo mountains.

The Larkant
Under the leadership of General Mortimer, the Larkant left the tidal wave and flood ravaged ruins of Mahtar and ventured east into old Gweria, building their new city around the fort of Duliel to the south: a strategic position as this is near to the border with Arnad Guarhoth through which any land invasion would have to travel. Having retired from the army, Haran Mortimer keeps a close eye on his people, watching over and protecting them.

The Everni
Although technically under the rule of Haran Mortimer of the Larkant, the Everni feel that not enough assistance has been provided to stop the raiding parties from the Mirilya woodlands and so they govern themselves via a council made up of representatives of those races who call the Forests of Nandine home: Everni, Wood Elf, Dryad and Beastkin.

The forests of Nandine now stretch east, surrounding Lenamo’s Sanctuary and joining up with the forests at the base of the Gruithiel Mountains. This immense woodland is home not only to the Everni (including those descended from the tribe on Stev) but also to the Wood Elves of Velmaneth, the majority of whom refused to rally to Erathil’s cause. A community of Dryads (colloquially known as Brocklings) also thrive within these forests along with many beastkin (particularly those classed as Prey) who did not rally to Greystreak’s cause.

The Jehovern
Never as numerous as the other tribes, the Jehovern are based in Sanga, the ruined capital of Sinya Palurin. Ruled over by their leader Drake, it is a city of knowledge famed for its religious tolerance that welcomes anyone of peaceful intent.

The Varyans
From their small corner of Gweria, the lands of the Varyan people now spread across the entire north-east of the Sinya Palurin, from Broniant, around the Gruithiel mountains all the way south to the border of Arnad Guarhoth with the city of Varya once more a jewel in the crown of humanity.

Damnation (formerly Arnad Guarhoth)
Capital city, Damntown. Ruled over by the Fey and the location of the only permanent Fey portals since the destruction of Little Piddling. To the east lies Pinecone Port home of the Halflings.
The Fey deforested much of this jungle land, killing and driving out the beastkin who once claimed this as their home. Fleeing west towards the Mirilya Woodlands, the beastkin claimed Nuuta as their own as the woodlands expanded and the Halflings, searching kindred spirits, headed east into Damnation.

Arak Kar
To the west of Damnation lies the newly created land of the Shirikan. Stretching from the sea in the south to the border with Sinya Palurin in the north, Arak Kar lies along Gungrol’s Deliverance, effectively meaning that the people of Noore I'Meles would have to cross Shirikan lands to get to Dolen Taleth or Damnation. From the swamps in the north to the desert in the south, Arak Kar provides the diversity required by such a diverse people as the Shirikan.

Dolen Taleth
These desert lands are now ruled over by the Kor Council and their warleader, Shah Safina. The Silent Ones who once controlled the deserts have been reduced to more of a secretive religious order providing wisdom and knowledge to the ruling council. A tribe of Desert Elves (Earth Elves who never rallied to Erathil) remain here led by a young Earth Elf called Thrasil.

Coshwood (formerly Coshwood Isle)
Many of the Soulless army had laid siege to the island of the Elves by patiently waiting beneath the sea’s surface until ordered to attack by their masters. However, with the destruction of The Quarin the order never came and instead of a united attack designed to crush the Elves, smaller forces of undead plagued the island for months.

In early 166 with the Elves weakened and the Scouring of Gweria complete Harwood turned his sights on Coshwood Isle, it was time to end the war.
Mobilising the navy, hundreds of ships with thousands of men were launched against the small island, arriving in the spring of 166 and though the Elves fought valiantly, they simply didn’t have enough warriors and were soon surrounded, falling back to the city.

As the human army pushed onward, Erathil and a number of his siblings led the Elven defenders but eventually they could hold out no longer. Although it is rumoured that Erathil was either killed or captured by members of his own court who betrayed him in order to talk peace all that is known is that Erathil has not been seen in public since the Battle for Coshwood Isle.
Ten years to the day since the human forces drove the Elves from Pathway, the “Treaty of Danahil” was drawn up: peace accords between Human and Elf ending a war that had stretched back 66 years to Erathil’s Betrayal.

Officially the Elves are still ruled over by Erathil, the High King. However, as he has not been seen in public for many years they are in actuality led by a council with Erathil’s son and heir Caspian Coshwood representing the crown. A young High Elf, the Lady Yoral has come of age this year and is expected to be betrothed to Caspian in order to continue the line.

Coshwood Isle itself has grown exponentially to become similar in size to Serke Kemi, this is due to Gerethenax’s blessing: when he left the sky he joined with this land and it has slowly expanded as each day the tide receded more and more. Now just known as Coshwood, the land contains several towns or cities where one Elven race (such as Fire, Water, Light etc) is prevalent.

The Serkanian Empire
Serke Kemi suffered much less from the Glooms and, later, the Quarin and so they have had little need to rest, recover and rebuild. In the 165th year they invaded Draconis Tielvar and in the years since have taken several other small landmasses to expand the Serkanian Empire. However, other than brief reports such as these, little has been heard from them in the last decade.

The Isle of the Dead
Far to the south lies a sanctuary for undead driven out of Gweria and the other lands of the living. Ruled by the military organisation known as The Infinite Legion, here free undead are welcomed into their ranks…ranks that have grown exponentially in the last decade.

Mount Heart
In the Treaty of Danahil, the mountain in the Heartlands was designated as neutral territory. Any person of any race is free to enter this land through one of several passes built through the mountains from every land that borders it. Should something threaten the lands of Velmaneth or a dispute break out between them, the Council of Nations will be called with representatives from every land and race in order to discuss and take action.

There was a bit of a kerfuffle regarding the Empress and the clans. What was the outcome?

I've left Serke Kemi for the moment: don't want to spoil anything for Saga, suggest chatting to Will as he's writing it, he can reveal enough for Serkanian characters without revealing anything he wants kept quiet

Have Guilds been affected in any major way? For example, is the big tower place in Sanga where the Knights of Asternia live still standing? (I got the place right, didn't I?)

Serke Kemi (for real)

Thanks to Luke and Edd

164-175
164: Sun Ren's possessing demon, Jian Cao Cao, was defeated after being tricked to reveal his name. Sun Ren and his sweetheart the Empress flee north into the lands of the Scorpion Clan, Sun Ren's men slaughter the demons allied to them and they rally at The Tower of Kengan.

The Scorpion Clan see this as an invasion of their land and, seeing their opportunity to take the throne, lay siege. 1000 Cuts (leader of the Silent Blades) renounces the Empress as impure and joins the Scorpion Clan.

The Tiger Clan, famed for their loyalty to the Imperial Throne, rally to the side of the Empress. Under the command of their leader Lord Futoi, they take command of the Imperial City and demand the Lotus Clan recall all their members. The combined Lotus and Tiger clans mobilise, heading north to assault Kita (the lands of the Scorpion Clan).

In retaliation, Lord Futoi is assassinated by the Silent Blades and his brother Lord Okubyoomono assumes command. Lord Futoi’s death convinces Master Dokyoo of the Shaded Blades to mobilise in favour of Sun Ren.

165: The Phoenix Clan, led by the famous General Gaibun cannot forgive Sun Ren for his collusion with Demons. The Furious Blades and Peasants of the Clan head north from the city of Chikara to the Tiger Clan held Imperial City where they lay siege to the lower city of Morsus.

166: Assaults during the siege lead to the city becomes a bloody battlefield where Shaded Blades and Furious Blades meet on the field forming an honour fuelled feud that will last for years.

167: Lord Okubyoomono of the Tiger Clan leads an attack on the Phoenix Clan’s home of Chikara. Lord Okubyoomono is slain in the fighting but the objective has been achieved, the Phoenix Clan is forced them to divide their forces between the siege of the Imperial City and returning south to defend their homeland.

The siege is finally broken when a combined force of members of the Tiger and Lotus clan are sent south from the front lines of Kita and those laying siege find themselves surrounded and severely outnumbered.

168: With the Tiger Clan weakened by the force sent to break the siege, the Scorpion Clan push further north but meet steady resistance as Sun Ren develops more effective tactics against the Silent Blades.

The Dragon Clan under the rule of the enigmatic Lord Keihatsu have so far stayed out of the fighting. However, four years after it began Lord Keihatsu announces he will pay a visit to Sun Ren and the Empress on a mission of peace. Despite attempts from other clans to stop him, he successfully reached The Tower of Kengan.

However, that following morning both the Empress and Sun Ren are found dead. No one witnesses the murder and rumours fly that Keihatsu is secretly a Silent Blade, loyal to 1000 Cuts: after all it is claimed no one has ever seen his face.

169: Following the death of the Empress, the Lotus Clan announce a new Emperor who demands that the Tiger Clan release the Imperial City of Morsus. He demands that the Scorpion Clan stands down and disbands Sun Ren's army, broken and chaotic following the death of their leaders.

The War Ends 5 years after it had begun. The Clans are in turmoil: many prominent Serkanians died in the fighting, old alliances broken, new grudges formed. The scars of the war will be felt for many years to come.

170: The Emperor, in a staggeringly obvious but successful move, orders the invasion of Draconis Tielvar in an attempt to unite the Clans.

170-175: A time of peace and rebuilding.
