The Church of Varya

Postby Will » Tue Nov 04, 2008 2:51 am

Worship of the old protector of Hoopa grows. A sign of hope for the people of the island. The Celebrants of Varya are simple, plain people, but brave and righteous. Often are they seen fighting through to the thick of the violence to drag the wounded out or protect those unable to defend themselves any longer.

Work has already begun on their temple, where people will soon come to give offerings to Varya, praying for his protection in these dark times.

And thus, a God of protection is born.

Albrech wandered over to the half constructed church but dissmissed it significance, picking up a piece of timber he lodged it against a pile of rubble and took a few stepps back. whilst he was stringing his bow he wondered about the events of recent days, although never a man of faith his sceptisisum at such movements became thin. Kaises return was surely prof of the dieties or rather that were intrested in this last bastion...

dismissing this thought he drew an arow and used the church as target practice, if its not finished its not holy he thought...

A figure dressed in White and Black armour, a gentle white light eminating from his from. He looks toward the church, uncompleted yet the beginnings of hope, of life. He smiles to himself. "Yes, this is good."

Looking over to Albrech he frowns slightly.

"Why do you shoot? I cannot sense the unclean around here. This place brings hope to the people of the town, it may not have the god's blessings yet, but it does have meaning. If you wish to practise, there are plenty of unclean ones at the walls...I am only not there because of a sudden lapse...it would be nice to have some company whilst cleansing this land..."

He extends his hand in invitation....

Stepping from a shaded area where he was watching, a coppery figure walks towards the conversation

Protection... it means nothing. In the end Death will come to everyone.

They merely attempt to flee a fate which was given to them at their birth.

The figure turns to Kais with a sneer on his face

You seek to embrace your second Death by delivering that fate upon the dead, I doubt your death will be at the hands of the dead... the living will be your death... ironic.

Turning to look at Albech an anger fills his eyes

You should have more respect for the ascended, your blood runs because of The Queen, the walls hold because of Varya.

I will leave you both to do... whatever it is you do.

**Kais looks towards the coppery figure with a sad smile on his face.**

"My death will come when it comes. I am but a servant of Firin. Tell me, death, why do you feel the need to slur Varya's protection yet as you say yourself, the walls stand thanks to this new god?"

A chilling smile creeps on to his face

You will recall that the most recent horde made it past the walls and caused havoc, Deity of Protection he may be and I will respect him for that accomplishment.

As I said, the walls stand because of him... the dead used the gate to get in last time.

A more worthwhile defence like a small courtyard with a second gateway that creates a killing ground would be more suitable... don't you think?

Kais looks at 'death', showing no expression.

"If you think it will make a difference, why not suggest it to the General?"

"Death's" hooded eyes light with glee at the unspoken conceit from Kais

I am not an advisor or part of the military here, Death will come to these people at thier allotted time, regardless of the measures taken to stop it.

It could be that you kill an Undead that would have killed some homeless urchin... instead of the urchin dying by those means he may end up bleeding to death from a wound.
In the end it is the same. The journey will be different, but the result is a trip in to Death's Lair.

You will never accept such a thing yet before your life blood flows for My Queen, you will understand.

*Blaize looks very confused as the two talk. Her attention going from one to the other as if she were watching a tennis rally*

"Oooooookay... so we are talkin' about Death? No one gonna tell me where the daed guy is then?"

Kais turns to Balize non-plussed.

"He was offered to the godess yesterday."

Turning a scornful gaze upon Blaize, the coppery elf glances at the Orc

You have been paying your usual amount of attention it seems. The dead are all around.

They walk outside of the walls.

"I tell you what Death you are really depressing sometimes"

Albrech rolls his eyes and walks over to kais

"i believe you said something about cleansing the undead. lets dedicate the first few kills to the sorcerer, he was a good lad, laughed at the most inappropriate times. i wonder how his companion is fairing, the mage who fought with us a few months ago?"

**As Albrech fire at the Church, a few alarmed workers have words with a few guards. As the conversation continues between the Heroes, so to does it between the guards. Eventually they wander over.**

"Here, you, why were you shooting at the building site?"
