....does it need changing? Is anyone (bar me) using this ability wrongly, or abusing it?

I think the initial problem was that we weren't sure what the specific ruling was, so we're looking for clarification because the line between what is standard, and what has been unique'd (regarding FAP/FLP) has become blurred.

My thoughts are:
If you are using FAP well then you don't need lots of armour to the arms.
If you're wielding a weapon in your right hand then you should be using that to parry not your right forearm (but feel free to use your left).

So:
You can use FAP if you are carrying nothing larger than a knife in that hand.

How about:
You can wear X points of armour and use FLP/FAP (where X = points of strength+points of dex)

And generally:
You must be actively trying to parry with your arm/leg to use FAP/FLP

That's what I'd root for.

Can this be "weapon larger than"?

Don't really like this str+dex thing but it's the solution presented (other than mine :P) that I hate the least :D

I also love the idea that someone has a point of dex from a life spell which means they can parry in their armour. They then get dispelled and can't parry anymore trololol

I don't think it's appropriate to FAP if you're carrying anything large in that hand, it will weigh you down won't it?

I said I didn't care. I didn't want to care. You made me care.

I think Andy meant "Weapon larger than a dagger" instead of "nothing bigger than a dagger"...

I said I didn't care. I didn't want to care. You made me care.

Carry on not caring :) delete the thread, carry on etc etc...

I think "nothing larger than a dagger" is a good rule of thumb: you can't FAP while carrying a rucksack in that hand or a large chest, another person, a shield etc. If you want to FAP, drop what you're carrying if it's bigger than a dagger. Daggers are quite big (18 inches or something).

So if we want to FAP, it's got to be less that 18 inches... tehe
