-1 to martial was to make it possible to use their sword either 1 or 2 handed. How about we say they can use dexterity to affect their 2 handed damage?

If we change Tiger Clan to 0, -1, +1 I'd be tempted to change Scorpion Clan to +1, -1, 0 so that there's some difference.

I was going to suggest Dex adding to their 2 H damage but thought that was too strong.

Scorpion Clan to +1 -1 +0 seems cool, it would also make them seem more like an opposite to the Dragon Clan, which I think gets the same

Shaded Blades being stealth based solves a number of issues.

I still think they should get parry hits :)

Well Shaded with Dex that applies to Two Handed swords...

Furious Blades: Prof + Str = damage and a global and 1 grade of strength (the global applies to melee physical only)
Shaded Blades: Unarmed prof + Dex = damage and a global, no strength, but the global applies to a LOT more.

So... they are essentially the same class, except Shaded can use unarmed as two handed profs, which are cheaper... and their globals are better. On the flip side furious get strength and one handed prof which ain't too shabby and I think their martial mod is better?

to summarise:

Shaded;
Better globals (but essentially the same number)
Cheaper damage grades but worse mods (evens out/against shaded's favour)
Unarmed fighting

Furious;
Strength
One handed fighting
The ability to use your sword all day long

I've probably got this wrong somewhere and Andy will let me know, BUT, kinda don't feel like these two were ever that different and they don't really feel it now?

I would actually consider just merging them... or that way too radical?

This might be me but I have always seen it thus

A Furious Blade is the traditional Samurai style warrior. Honourable, brave, etc - the warrior and knight of the Orient. Often seen with katana, daisho, naginata or bows.

A Shaded Blade is more like that random loner who travels the world, looking to prove his skill with a blade until he becomes the best, maybe somewhat similar to Jubai in Ninja Scroll, that sort of thing.

As it stands, I agree with Luke that they don't feel different but I disagree that they never have...

....oh and you forgot that Samurai can wear any amount of plate mail but it is not advantageous for a Shaded Blade to do so.

And this is just my impression. I'm sure either version of the class could be incorrected and roleplayed by the other :)

Ah yes! Furious keep their globals with armour, forgot that.

I think it's a fair trade. I quite like having strength anyway, all good and well having FAPFLP and dex but it's totally useless when a zombie grabs you.

I agree but if you merge the classes you take away the option of playing it one way or the other

Yeah I think in practice they will be different. Just on paper they look similar, but then so does a celebrant and mage.

Just to clarify- Final Call on Shaded Blades and Tiger Clan

Atm they're both -1 martial, 0 Stealth and +1 Academic

Are we changing them to stealth based?

Tiger Clan now 0, -1, +1
Shaded Blades now 0, -1, +1

Shaded Blade
The Shaded Blade may use his ranks in Unarmed as 1 or 2 handed sword (this does not stack with any ranks
of 1 or 2 handed sword already possessed).

2 handed sword damage can be increased using Strength or Dexterity (whichever is higher)
