Ingolé...gone

Postby Ben » Sat Feb 16, 2013 10:05 pm

In a ritual circle on Coshwood Isle stood a dozen Elves of varying skin tones, within the circle sat a blackened sphere that pulsed with power. The sphere had resided there for a month awaiting today and at a nod from Erathil the ritualists who had been holding back its power released their influence.

The sphere immediately began to burrow into the ground and if one were to follow its progress through the hole they would see it gaining more and more speed until it was barely visible a hundred feet below and still accelerating.

The Elves backed away, activating protective wards that had been prepared over the past weeks. With the wards erected, the Elves stood solemnly, barely breathing, not looking at each other, just waiting. They didn't have long to wait.

The floor shook and from it a blast of pure pink energy exploded forth into the wards, destroying several but others still held. After several minutes the waves of power dissipated and the newly created well simply pulsed with power. The Elves had their own well once more but, more importantly, they had fulfilled their bargain with the Soulless.

Thousands of miles away on the other side of the world the ground beneath Ingolé shook. The city built into the mountain began to quake and its population began to panic as buildings shook themselves apart.

Suddenly the mountain itself exploded, erupting with power, lava pouring down towards the city below. Huge chunks of rock broke through the surface, cracking and crushing the once great city. Little could be heard above the noise of the earthquake except the loudest of shouts and screams.

Ingolé, capital city of the Telerfret, one time sanctuary of humanity was destroyed, a stream of refugees had managed to escape in time but soon the stream dried up: no one could have survived the heart of the destruction.

A man in red stood watching the destruction caused by a well being opened on the other side of the world. Quaos smiled, a new day would dawn tomorrow but not for the people of Ingolé.
