The three moons of Velmaneth do not shine with their own light, instead reflecting the light of the sun. However, since both the sun and the moons circle Velmaneth and due to their relatively small size and the fact that less than 1% of Velmaneth is covered in land it is exceptionally rare to see more than one of the moons in the sky at any one time.

There are scholars who spend their lives trying to predict the lunar cycles for they move at the whim of the gods and so it is more akin to predicting the weather. Only such an expert can even tell the difference between the three moons at a glance.

For this reason it took some time for them to realise that Lenamo hadn't risen in some weeks...
