The trading cog floated peacefully off shore, bearing witness to an exchange between its captain and a young man in raggedy armour. The cog itself was low in the water, weighted down by the large iron cages fixed to the deck and hold.

Now. When you said we'd be escorting twenty Bears and ten Tigers I naturally assumed... This was not the first time the captain complained.

...wrong. The badly dressed warrior said in a dismissive way, staring at the ground beneath his feet and then off towards the rolling hills of this strange land.
Still, the Untouched Grace is not unkind to sailors like you. He handed the captain a heavy sack of silver smiling and let the man paddle back to his small boat, pushing it out towards his cog.

Ten Tiger Arbatim smiled. He had his sword at his waist, his charcoal and papers in his satchel and a whole new world to explore. He turned to his companion, a tall and hairy man whose namesake said more of him than any song could.

Twenty Bears, they say this is a land void of demons but full of magic. When their men die, they walk again and march together as they never did when alive. They sleep with witches and marry themselves to sorcery. I think there is much to learn here...

He knelt down and grabbed some sand from the shore, pouring a small amount into his boots - nothing is as unwelcome as foreign feet on hostile shores. Better the land be tricked into thinking him it's own. He gestured for Twenty Bears to do the same.

I have heard they don't use machines here, they smash cities with fire from their hands, and attend tournaments where their gods bleed each other. What a barbaric land. One day we will break their walls with Yassa, stone and wood and steel. But for now let us continue our journey. The Untouched Grace awaits our destiny and the sooner we are done here the sooner we may forge stronger names.

He began to walk, sand in boots, sword in hand, and one thought in his mind.

All hail The Untouched Grace, Empress of Serke Kemi.
