Clarifications

Items gained IC are not automatically mastercrafted. They are only mastercrafted if it has specifically been said "This is a mastercrafted x".

Mastercrafted plate/chain mail grants you the FIRST resistance to damage, not an EXTRA resistance.

Changes affecting characters:

If a change is made to the price of a skill or spell, then you DO NOT have to pay extra if it goes up in cost, and you WILL get a refund if it goes down, or will be allowed to get all the points back if you don't want the new version.

However, the spell/skill will then function in all ways as the new description (paying as much power as the new power of the spell for example)

Being reduced in skill:
Does not automatically give respend. You keep the skills you previously had, unless stated otherwise (Ted). You wont be able to buy new skills until you have earned enough skill to overtake previous skill levels.

Hi All,

As requested.

This thread is for clarifications and changes to the existing, published version of the rules.

It is not a place for discussion. If you wish to discuss a clarification in this thread, please raise it in a new thread and if a new decision is made the original poster of that change can edit his post.

Regards,

Andy

Clarification from Will regarding the Personalised aspect of items:

Anyone can use a Personalised item but it doesn’t count as personalised and they don’t get additional damage grades out of it (e.g. A +3 magical personalised sword with 2 x shield of darkness 20s in it means someone who nicks the sword gains the innate shield of darkness’ but cant use the +3 magical side)

Cost is the differance between Personalised and Master Crafteded costs - but has to be a minimum of 1 month after the original make, in a similar vein to other upgrades

With immediate effect:

Half Races
After an analysis of the recent half race introduction it has been determined that, in 95% of characters, advantages from both parents have been taken along with a set of modifiers and rarely any disadvantages taken.

Therefore it has been determined that HALF RACES will now take up the unique race slot.

In addition, despite the precedent, Life Elves and Death Elves cannot be used in half race combinations. From an In Character point of view this is because both races have been around for less than a decade - not enough time for a half race to mature!

Unique Races & Classes

In an effort to off set the above and to encourage people to play unique races, once a players unique race has deceased the unique race slot is available to be used once more.
Obviously this means that the deceased unique race cannot be returned to life in anyway once the player chooses to start a new unique race.

Along side this it has also been decided that the option of buying additional unique race/class slots with boons is no longer available. It will now be one unique race (with a 12 month gap between starting a new one should the first die/retire/be blown up) and the same with unique classes.

Exceptions
Any half race combo (with half life/death elf) currently in place will remain.
Any players with multiple unique races retain them without penalty.

Applying for Half Races
As has been discussed in the past that half races must be approved this will remain the domain of the Unique Team.

Sorcerers: The rules are changing!

Sorcerers now start with their Circle one skill for free, and gain 5 circle one spells. Upon purchasing each successive circle, they get 4/3/2/1 spells of that circle immediately and 'for free'. Ie, not from their Essence awards. Further, Sorcerors are now to receive spells of rank roughly equal to twice their Essence award each game.

For existing Sorcerers, you will have some extra skill to spend, and will have to re-work your spell lists to add your new-found knowledge. Please consult a ref to sort this out.

Any effects that previously stated "may only be killed by xyz" now read "the first time a day your character is killed, unless they are killed by xyz, they count as fated"

Bleed will stop if any healing is done to the location, even if it is not specifically a healing spell, e.g. Undead being healed by causing spells

The Mamazumo faith 2 ability that states gained power cannot be used for healing includes spells/abilities that are not specifically healing spells, but do heal damage, as above.

Meditate no longer exists as a skill.
Everyone can regain power at an Essence Shrine following the current rules for med (you don't need to buy a skill).
Some Essence Shrines will be large, some small, some in the player house, some in monster territory: it will depend on the event.
Some shrines will have a finite amount of power where essence has built up (a bit like rainwater) and once it's depleted, it's gone. This will be represented with a big bowl of gems and each time you regain essence from the shrine you remove enough gems and discard them (in the discard pile provided). Sure, it can be cheated but so can everything else. This will lead to people (hopefully) taking what they need or inter-party consequences.

All weapons (if they grant an extra damage enhancement and are NOT made of a special material) are now magical. No more really, really, really sharp non-magical swords.

+5/+4 become +2
+3/+2 become +1
+1 become +0

If people have bought them from IC crafters you may have your money back if you wish (credited by us, not removed from crafter - IC you sold it for what you paid for it as you felt the magic waning: sneaky you).

New Weapon Crafting Rules

Must be Magical in order to do anything else (*the exception to this is weapons made of a special material: Pure Shard, True Steel, Rift etc)

Personalised x1
MC x1.5 multiplier (to failure chance and rava cost)

Magical: 50 rava -20% chance of success
Extra Damage 100 rava per grade -25% per grade
Elemental 50 rava -10%
Soul 100 rava -20%

So the chance to make a PERSONALISED +2 magic sword = -70% and 250 rava
The chance to make a MC +2 magic sword = -105% and 375 rava
Warryn Coshwood - Diamond Elf Paladin of Gerethenax
Ten Tigers - Serkanian Furious Blade
Ishan-bey - Kor Sorcerer

Thanks Luke.

Just to add, with magic weapons +2 should be seen as an amazing magic weapon, +3 is an artifact (Nature's Wrath type level) and I wouldn't expect anything above this to exist.
