Supernatural dodge can only be used against directly damaging spells that could be argued to have a visible component (e.g. fire bolt)


Why damaging?

Shouldn't it just be anything with a visual component?

It seemed easier to say that directly damaging spells are the ones that would have a visible thing to dodge: dart/bolt/strike/blast are a projectile of magic flying at someone. I didn't want to have to define what would have a visible component (eg Ignite: is it a ball of magic that sets fire to you or does the item heat up to the point that it bursts into flames etc)

Unless someone is happy to go through all the spells and define what is visual and what is not :)

On a serious note, it's almost certainly too powerful as it is sooo, this is a simple way of nerfing it.

I completely agree, in fact think I made a point about it a few years ago. Didn't stop me using it in the mean time though :)

Would it be worth / doable to test these changes during Saga? I know it will be a nice thing to do after Saga during the 10 year IC gap but I think there will be a few characters there that have quite a bit of skill and can have a play around with the new system, which is something I would like to do.

If this is coming in pre saga, we'd need to see how it works for classes that are resticted on weapons - like a shaded blade :P Do they still pay the flat amount but lose out on the versatility of being able to use more than one weapon?
