Human Update proposal

Postby Ben » Wed Apr 01, 2015 12:48 am

Telerfret: now get to choose a free circle at each threshold
Larkant: replaced by Varyan
Everni: gain the old Wood Elf abilities (Warp Wood, Climb, Barkskin)
Jehovern: immune to life, death, light and shadow. Double damage from fire, water, air and earth.
Hopestarved: removed as no one plays them, background is that they've all joined a tribe

That seems really good. Gain circle 4 for free in a sphere you cannot generally cast or play a warrior with Circle 1 Water, Circle 3 Life. Repair + Heal/Hope 5. Nice + for a slightly worse modifier.

Seems fair, I guess.

Ben wrote:Everni: gain the old Wood Elf abilities (Warp Wood, Climb, Barkskin)

Aww I liked the invis but yeah seems fine.

Disbeneficial or not? Considering most damaging magic you face is Shadow, Death and Fire this seems very strong.

So current can stay a Hopestarved or switch to any tribe they want?

Telerfret should be really good and should have more magic. In fact...start with 2 circles.
Everni can have invis too.
Jehovern: all, including beneficial
Hopestarved: they can choose any race they like (not just tribe)

The Jehovern change is interesting. I can't remember their mods but I think they are academic, most of the time they won't have hits per and will have shields or armour (I'm generalising of course) so I doubt it will come into play often - except when a strike kills a player. If they are immune completely then they can't invigorate or unity... nevermind. I'm fine with it.

I am all for these changes BUT I don't ever want to see another instant-'Barrage' before a 300 skill adventure. Feel like all the adventure writers (me included) should make a pact to that effect.

I know we don't much care for this argument, because roleplay. Which is great :)

But

I think from the LAPPing community, we'd probably not play much else but humans.

Good point...I was considering Telerfret having barrage as an innate but maybe not then. Would make for an short but interesting Telerfret/Jehovern war.

I think from the LAPPing community, we'd probably not play much else but humans.

That's fine: more human to represent that there are more humans in the world (particularly the continent of Pargon itself)

New stat priorities:

Varyan: Martial -2, Stealth +1, Academic +1
Telerfret: Martial +2, Stealth -1, Academic -1
Jehovern: Martial +1, Stealth +1, Academic -2
Everni: Martial +1, Stealth -2, Academic +1

I really like these. I always thought there should be more races beside Mistborn which get -2 modifiers. Good work!

I like that telefret only get -1 academic too, kind of neatly balances the free circles.

This seems fair. Bout time we got some -2s again, after Dragonkins got nerfed.

You know classes get a modifier to buying abilities? I think to encourage humans, they should get a mod too:
Varyan: -1 to Battle and Force
Terfret: -2 to Magic
Jehovern: -1 to Cunning and Magic
Everni: -1 Battle and Cunning

Only -2? Why not -3 but +1 cunning, force, battle?

How about Telerfret get all circles for free based on threshold?
Starter: gain all circle 1
30 skill: gain all circle 2
60 skill: gain all circle 3
120 skill: gain all circle 4
300 skill: gain all circle 5
320 skill: gain all circle 6

You only need to spend skill on circles if you want to gain them earlier than the above thus keeping power levels down because most will want to save skill.

I think we are making Telefret too strong. Why not take away their free circles etc, and give them the sorcerer ability to learn spells? If someone plays a telefret sorcerer then they learn at double speed or something?

I think that way we keep the flavour of the race without making them too strong.

That or keep the free circles but get rid of the +5 essence. I always thought that was broken.

How about, whenever they see a spell cast they gain all spells of that circle? Or sphere...doesn't really matter.

Yeah, get rid of the free essence but give them -1 to casting all spells to balance it out.
