Sunset Approaching

Postby Phil.Priest » Mon Mar 09, 2009 9:53 am

As Yashmanar invokes the power he, and most of the group, flicker and vanish. Standing within the clearing there are five of the twenty one remaining.

Three promised to ensure that at least some of the deceased from the tidal wave could not be recruited to the armies of the Hopeslayers, one who would give her life for one of the three and the final one who seeks to redeem himself...

Looking at each other, knowing this is something they had to do in a short time, they move towards the marsh flats and begin piling the dead upon some of the local dry dead wood. Soon the realisation that they do not have the time to get all of the bodies hits them... yet they carry on, knowing that those they can stop from being raised may find the Bastion of Hope.

The pyre is lit before all of the bodies are laid to rest and as the flames begin to lick the pile a stench of burning flesh raises in to the air; a shout goes up from one of the five, which one called out is forgotten, the promised army arrives.

Hordes of undead, skeletons and zombies, wraiths and wights, decend the hills with the Mouth at the front. The guide turns to his Shield Bearer and speaks, she shakes her head and with resignation the orc, who bestowed the option of retreat upon them, grasps her arm and speaks the words, they vanish.

Finally as the hordes begin their final approch, Hunter, The Guide and The Warden, stand letting the flames take hold beyond the chance of them being raised; neither one of them willing to be the first to leave.
Seeing the danger one of them moves, as fast as the wind which guides him, The Guide grabs the arms of Hunter and The Warden... at their final act of retreat they hear the Mouth laughing.

With a spoken word the contingencies that were put in place are triggered and the three Sentinals vanish, leaving Gweria to be ravaged by the Slayers for another night.
