Ingolé: Looking for Mages

Postby Hatsuo1980 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 9:51 pm

A monkey walks the streets of Ingolé looking for signs of Mage buildings of some description, there had to be some mages around here somewhere

A sort of wood elf with silver "hair" follows close behind, staggering a little as he walks

Kel looks appraisingly at Joseph, then extends her hand towards him.

Here, take my hand and I can give you the power to teleport for a little while, but I'll need it back...

(assuming OOC Joseph takes it)

Kel mutters for about a minute, then lets go of Joseph's hand and refocuses on him.

**Joseph smiles**

"I would hope that you would have less respect for me if I accepted a position just to make personal gain..."

**He begins chanting, the word badger features prominently, until finally, his eyes glow slightly as new understanding enters him**

"Ah, there we go... I see a city that I believe is the main one for the Orcs? Is that alright?"

**Joseph begins making excessively dramatic motions**

"Wind and Earth heed my call, Badger knows, sees us all.
Fire and water bound in pain, Badger plays this cosmic game.
Across the mountains, seas and skies, the soaring Eagle laughs and cries.
Carried on magiks burdened back, trails of power not to track.
Darkest uttering, Lightest song, balance seeks to prove me wrong.
Badger's knowledge bound within, bless this life so full of sin.
Found a reason yet to stay, but carry me now far away!"

**And slipping through the space between worlds... Joseph vanishes**

Hearing the words, Monkay chuckles slightly but seems impressed at the rhythmical display at casting before casting himself

Monkay calls forth the power of the emissary, Angel of Hope
By the power of you holy magic let Monkay be transported through time and space
Let the walls of reality bend to Monkay's will and allow Monkay to step from one place to another
Let Monkay tread the path, as all the Anointed before him have done
Let Monkay be where he needs to be

In a flash of white and silver light, the monkey vanishes

A Serkainian man with a sword slung over his back, tied in place, is sat, brooding. His master isnt far away, but he himself is sat waiting for now...

Closing his eyes, his thoughts go over the events that led to him losing what he had. Genji Tanuki, the Ex-shaded blade, reflects upon certain things he has seen and done.

Naturally, his thoughts turn to the death of the Emperor. They had been sent away by the Emperor to train...he had given them a great honour. Then, the terrible blow everyone received to find the Lord Emperor slain, killed by Daigotsu's soldiers. Later, in the Antechamber between life and death, meeting the enraged Emperor who ordered Genji to commit Hara-kiri (a slang term in Genji's mind, but then, Genji spoke with slang anyway), which he did so to appease the dead man. Had he not given his life for honour and the true ruler? And then, sent back...being judged to be worthy to continue the fight against Daigotsu. But the shame at having been returned incomplete, his warrior powers gone.

Genji thought back further. Back to traveling as a younger man, meeting Miyra whom he would later swear to protect. This he had done, many times. Of course, it was taking Miyra's staff that had undone his vows as a Shaded Blade...
it seemed wise at the time. His fist did nothing to the stone monster, and a sword (his family blade, no less) he could not risk damaging. He remembered thinking that the staff might have been a wiser choice...but in the moment, foolish child, had forgotten all he stood for. How hot tempered and reckless youth could be...

Still, even after, against his judgement to take his life for honour, he kept protecting his charge, his friends and allies. At the time, it was just to see them through till he could ask Doki to be his second later...but in the Antechamber, he had taken his life anyway...and been sent back. Did the Dragons mock him this way? Or did they see it fit to let the dishonoured warrior return? He could feel his father's soul turn away from his son in shame...

Genji tried not to think about that too much...not now.
He thought back further...his father...his father, knowing Genji was born with the frailty in the lungs that would eventually kill the boy, having him taught the ways of the Shaded Blade, combining agility and speed over strength and might. His father being cut down in battle agaisnt the foul demon spawn...then his mother, bravely, stepping up to finish his father's work. She had been firmer and harder than his father, and for that he could be grateful. Surely she would beat him if she had seen Genji forget his vows...

Ganji paused for a moment, coughed hard, spat the blood out and resumed his thoughts. Well...a relief of some macabre form was that, like it or not, he didnt have long to live anyway. Ritual suicide or battle mattered little before...Genji simply knew his lungs would eventually give out. Now, honourable suicide seemed too good for him...he sighed and tried not to think like that...not yet.

As Genji sits in contemplation of his life many images pass through his mind.

Images of his youth flash in front of him, he sees the dojo where he trained in the arts of sword and fist. Genji stands in line with two dozen other young Kousen, watching and listening to their sensei

"The way of the Musha is not just about using your family Katana. The Katana should always be your last resort. It is often far simpler and more effective to simply disarm and subdue your opponent."

The sensei nods to his second, who attacks with a diagonal strike of his bokken. In 1 fluid motion, the sensei grabs the flat of the blade with one hand and the attackers arm with his other, turns his body and throws the attacker to the floor, taking the sword as he does so.

"Always remember, an opponent without a weapon is no threat at all."

Further images of many other lessons from his youth flicker inside his mind as he begins to remember his training.......

Genji thinks back further...

The training had been harsh, he remembered that much. But then, it had also bought him time, too. And after all, it had also been fun.
The training went through basic fighting arts of hand to hand combat to the sword. Of course, the training in the sword was always seen as the harder, more important form, but Shaded Blades were taught to only draw their blades in dire cases. Hence, the students had to double their efforts in hand to hand combat kata.

He remembered a time, when trainign with another boy, he had been stuck hard and knocked down. Upon getting up, Genji had been knocked down again. This repeated a few times till Genji lost his temper and lunged at the other boy. He had been restrained and berated for his outburst, but Genji was furious at himself for losing so simply and not having done better. For a time after, he had spent time with a monk, talking about finding a centre where the red mist of rage could be displaced...afterward, said monk had sent the boy back for further training.

Against the same boy, the outcome had been the same, but Genji grinned after being beaten down and formulated a way to overcome his defeat. Remembering to centre himself as always, when the attack that normally flattened him came, Genji seized his opponents arm, twisted and threw the boy over his back to the ground. He remembered his sensei nodding emotionlessly in silent congratulations...and then pairing him with a stronger boy.

...Genji had never really thought about it back then, but perhaps his sensei had not simply been teasing him back then...

As Genji's mind continued to flick through memory after memory, his mind went over 4 memories constantly

The memory of his sensei teaching him the code and ways of the Shaded Blade, what it meant to be a swordsman but to only draw your blade when it was needed.

The day Genji picked up a staff to strike, why he did this and how he so easily forgot his training.

Doki Rinsei, the Sword of Lung Wang and an experienced Shaded Blade itself.

His home, his school and the training rooms of the Shaded Blade of the Kousen.

But why did these 4 memories flow over and over in Genji's mind...

Genji focused upon these thoughts...

Being taught only to draw the sword when needed...
That made sense in a way...Shaded Blades...none could match them in the art of the sword, but that power came at the price of restraining this power, learning not to reply upon it...the sword was sacred weapon and not to be weilded carelessly...it was the warrior's soul, and few deserved even the honour to die upon its lethal beauty.

The day he struck with the staff...
He wasnt too sure, now...he did remember though, a desire to fight better, to protect Miyra, the feeling that his sword could have broken, or had no effect, that his punches and kicks did nothing to the stone monster, and hoping the blunt edge would shatter its rocky skin...then the feeling of dread that he ahd forgotten everything to fight to protect Miyra and thus stripped himself of his Shaded Blade training...

Doki...This was harder in his mind...but...he felt admiration towards Doki. Respect and even friendship. Despite the rough fights the two have had, he liked the sword of the heavens, not seeing the blade as simply a Kami or heavenly blade, but an ally, a friend. And a fearsome warrior that was awe inspiring. Doki was a Shaded Blade of near unmatched skills...he was a model that all should base their ways upon...

Home, the training rooms...
The training, the harsh lessons being beaten into his young head, the ways of the Shaded Blades, the ways he had forgotten in one moment to find himself stripped of the next...the harshness had gone far, but not enough...

Why these thoughts...?
As it turns out, our battle plan is NOT "Synchronized Panicking"
