The Light Returns

Postby Phil.Priest » Sat May 08, 2010 10:24 pm

Hours become days... and still the silver dome remains within the Bastion.

Throughout the months those souls recruited to defend and aid the Bastion are put through many trials, repelling the native demons and undead of this hellish place, rebuilding the walls and slowly bringing the place back to its once formidible glory.

Days turn to weeks... and still the silver dome remains within the Bastion.

The most experienced taking command until The Shining One returns to lead them, a watch set to ensure ample warning of attacks, training to keep skills sharp... for who knew when they would return? After afew days the non-combatants visited the dome sparingly, knowing that the Goddess who gave them this place of peace was threatened. If anyone would keep Her safe it would be her Paladin and High Priest, the defences were lowered purely because of this and without Her they would not restore.

Weeks low to months... and still the silver dome remains within the Bastion.

Eventually the dome shakes and sparks, power reverberating from the dome and touching the souls within the Bastion before seeping in to the newly built walls and causing them to take on a light glow of their own.
Before anyone understands what is happening the shell expands over the growing citadel, bringing contentment and Hope to all, for miles around the shell is seen, a beacon of Light and Life within a world of Death and Shadow. When other souls see the light a feeling of safety touches their very being and they know it to be what they need... a Haven.

Within the circle standing hand in hand two beings, power radiating, one known as The Stormbringer, the other as The Hopebringer. As their forms solidify the shell above the stronghold fades and becomes an aura, no longer solid... but still imbued with power.

For now, those within the Bastion would be safe and a celebration would be had... for the Gods were back in power, and the sanctuary was safe.

For now...

Krellr Vinr had spent much of the last few weeks tending to the wounded and striking out at the demons seeking to reclaim the ruins. He remains for little reason other than that he has no reason to leave. When the citadel shakes, he finds himself readying for an attack, but then the light pushes back any attackers and reveals two figures, pure and unsullied. Krellr does not recognise one of them, but the other...

As the ghosts around him stare in awe and wonder, Krellr spits into the dust, drawing some startled glances, then he sets off towards the pair. Towards his murderer.

Through the press of bodies, Krellr advances with the patience of ice cracking a stone. He moves forward when a space opens, and stands, immovable when one does not. Slowly, almost inexorably he advanced towards the centre of the gathering. Eventually, he finds himself close enough to the former Life Elf to reach out and touch him. He does so, gently touching the creature to get his attention.

"Kallist. Don't suppose you remember me." Perhaps it had been intended to be a question. It didn't sound like one.
