So, Who Are The Council?

Heart of Pargon is a Live-Action Roleplay system that runs mainly in the Exeter area. It is currently run by The Council, which consists of 4 long standing members who work together to run the club. Below, is a brief background on these people, so that you know a little bit about the people in whose hands you are trusting your live-roleplay experience.

Will Power - System Manager

Yes, that is his real name! Will began live-action roleplay at the tender age of 10 providing him with well over a decade of LRP experience. He started with a system in south-east London called Labyrinthe and went on to become a referee here when he was 17. At the age of 18 Will moved to Exeter in order to study Psychology, and in the course of trying to study, was introduced to Shadow Realms, which runs in Exeter. Through Shadow Realms, Will was subsequently introduced to Curious Pastimes, a major nation-wide system.

In April 2004, Will drew on all his experience from all these systems over all these years to create Heartlands, a system he ran in London for a small group of friends. Over time, and after some prodding, Heartlands evolved into Heart of Pargon and has been running successfully in the Exeter area since January 2005!

Will's other interests include the theatre, singing and scouting. In 2005 Will obtained a 2:1 in Psychology (amazingly), in 2006 successfully completed his PGCE in Citizenship and Humanities at St Lukes and took up work as a teacher at Magdalen Court School, where he holds the prestigious title of Head of Drama. He has also since gone on to become a referee at Shadow Realms, a referee at Three Kingdoms, which runs in Cardiff, and manages staff for Kings Banquet, a fantasy themed catering company which deals mostly with Maelstrom, another system Will is heavily involved with.

Will is more than happy to discuss any issues or ideas about the system that you may have, and indeed, seems to spend most of his life doing just this.

Ash Horswill

Yes, That is his real name!... Sorry I kinda had to really. Ash has been involved in RPG’s of some type or another for more years than he cares to count, but has only been LARPing for 9 years (ish). Still he thinks his mind has the right capacity to make him the equal of the others (modest isn’t he?).

Ash got involved in Heart of Pargon one night in some random Exeter pub (can’t remember which one) and it was here that he instilled a plot idea into Will’s head. Ash enjoys writing convoluted backgrounds for his characters (6 page minimum for most) which is probably what prompted Will into appointing him as Background ref (that or Will needed a way to keep his post count down).

Outside of Heart of Pargon, Ash is heavily involved in Games Workshop, his game of choice at the moment is Inquisitor which has prominent roleplaying aspects, though his 40K Ork army does a good impression of Imperial Guard (how many Tanks is that now?).

Ben Willis

Ben is a referee at Shadow Realms and has been for some time. Over the years he has contributed more and more to Heart of Pargon, and we were very glad that he agreed to take up a position on the council.

Ben is best known for the first character death in the system (causing it, not being the victim!) whilst his mind had been taken over by a vicious wolf spirit. However, we think this was just an excuse...

Ok, he's hopefully not best known for that... but it makes an interesting story...

Colin Janke

Colin has been a member of the club for a few years now, hailing originally from Exeter University's own LARP society, though some club members may question the inclusion of 'action' in the title, which was in fact the reason that Heart of Pargon was created in the first place!

Colin seems to spend more time entertaining the players on the in character forums than the other council members, so if online roleplay is your thing, it's best to keep in his good books :) I joke of course... you're doomed no matter how much in anyone's good books you are.
